Jim Harlow had 33 years of experience in the design and application of voltage regulation products and installations with Siemens Energy and Automation and Beckwith Electric Company before starting Harlow Engineering Associates in 1996. In these positions he has gained extensive knowledge of tap changing under load and its control for the common as well as the unusual and complex applications.

Jim is a past Vice President of Technical Activities of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. He also served as Chair of the IEEE PES Transformers Committee. He is a Life Senior of IEEE. He is a Registered Professional Engineer.

Notable amoung his publications is the editorship of the CRC Press book, Electric Power Transformer Engineering, 2004, for which he also authored the segment on LTC Control and Transformer Paralleling.
